Bengaluru Cafe Explosion

A bomb blast at Bengaluru’s well-known Rameshwaram Cafe left ten people injured. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar confirmed that the person who put the bag with the explosive device was identified through CCTV.

On a Friday afternoon, Bengaluru’s Rameshwaram Cafe experienced a bomb blast, causing injuries to at least ten people.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah confirmed the blast resulted from an IED, stating that a man had planted a bag containing the device inside the cafe.

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar reported that the suspect has been identified through CCTV footage. He mentioned that the individual is approximately 28 to 30 years old.

Police sources informed the Chief Minister that, aside from the IED in the bag, no additional explosive devices were found on the premises.

Siddarmaiah disclosed that the individual who left the bag inside the cafe took a token from the cash counter. The cashier is currently undergoing questioning.

In response to inquiries about whether the incident was a terrorist act, the Chief Minister stated that it is yet unknown, and investigations are underway.

He clarified that the blast wasn’t extensive but rather an improvised explosive blast. Expressing concern, he noted that such incidents should not occur. This is the first such incident during the current government’s tenure, except for the one in Mangaluru during BJP rule.

The injured individuals, including staff members and a customer, have non-critical injuries, according to the Chief Minister.

The blast victims are identified as Farooq (19), a hotel staff member; Deepanshu (23), an Amazon employee; Swarnamba (49); Mohan (41); Nagashree (35); Momi (30); Balaram Krishnan (31); Navya (25); and Srinivas (67).

A case related to the blast has been registered at the HAL Police Station in Bengaluru under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Explosive Substances Act.

India Today has obtained CCTV footage from Bengaluru’s Rameshwaram Cafe, revealing the moment the blast occurred. The footage captured servers bustling around the counter before the blast, which engulfed the camera screen in white, accompanied by rising plumes of smoke.

The area has been cordoned off as the police conduct an investigation into the explosion..
