Dhurv Jurel and Sarfaraz Khan are set to force their into BCCI central contracts after the India vs England 5th Test in Dharamsala.
Apart from the headline-making exclusions of Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan, there were a couple of other noticeable names missing from the BCCI’s list of annual retainers released on Wednesday. Two standout absentees were young players Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel. Both Sarfaraz and Jurel made their debut for India in the same Test match against England in Rajkot. Sarfaraz scored half-centuries in both innings of the Test, while Jurel impressed with a determined knock of 46.
Born in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, Jurel showcased an outstanding performance in the fourth Test in Ranchi. He was awarded the Player of the Match for his contributions with the bat and behind the wickets. Jurel scored 90 runs in India’s first innings and then remained unbeaten on 39 runs during a challenging chase of 192 runs. His efforts helped India secure victory by five wickets, taking an unbeatable 3-1 lead in the five-match series.
